Roman army conquered new lands.
Latin - based on Greek alphabet, basis for Romance laguages, used for medical terms.
Architecture - concrete, domes, arches, aqueducts, roads
Coliseum - used Greek columns and Roman arches.
Gladiators - slaves who fought to the death in the Coliseum.
Decline of Rome
Nero and Caligula - persecuted Christians
Weak economy - money lost value and there was a return to the barter system.
Diocletian split the empire into Eastern and Western Empires because the Roman Empire became to big to control.
Constantine stops the persecution of Christians & becomes a Christian before his death.
The Weastern Empire falls to barbarian invaders.
The Eastern Empire becomes the Byzantine Empire.
Romans allowed conquered people to continue to follow their own religion.
Polytheistic - adapted Greek gods. Zeus to Jupiter
Roma later became Christian and founded the Roman Catholic Church.
